The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is asking registered teachers who are currently unemployed to register as it begins the exercise of updating records, an initiative aimed at strengthening workforce planning.

The commission said the process is part of efforts to maintain an accurate and up-to-date database of qualified teachers across the country.

According to the statement released on Wednesday, the exercise is intended to help the commission establish the demand and supply dynamics of trained teachers.

This information will also be used to guide future recruitment strategies and related policy decisions within the education sector.

“The updated data will be processed and stored in accordance with the Provisions of the Data Protection Act and the Privacy Notice of the Commission,” the commission said.

Even so, TSC clarified that the initiative is purely administrative and should not be interpreted as a job advertisement. It further emphasised that participation in the exercise will not guarantee employment or any immediate recruitment opportunities.

Teachers targeted in the exercise have been asked to submit their details online through the commission’s official portal at www.tsc.go.ke under the “Careers” section. The end date for completing the data update has been set for March 16, 2026, at midnight.

Alternatively, registered teachers can access the direct profile update link provided by TSC to complete their information submission.

Participants have been advised to ensure that all details entered are accurate, including their subject combinations, which can be corrected through the profile update option.

The data collection window opened on March 3, 2026, and will run for a period of about two weeks.

Teachers are required to provide key identification details during the update process, including their ID or passport number, TSC number, surname as indicated on their registration certificate, and an active phone number for communication purposes.

Meanwhile, the developments come at a time when the government has revealed plans to recruit 24,000 new teachers and convert 46,000 teachers to permanent and pensionable ones.
