KNEC Opens 2026 KJSEA Registration Portal 2026.
The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has announced the opening of candidate registration for the 2026 Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA).
In a notice on Tuesday, March 3, the council said the KJSEA registration opening followed the subsequent opening of registrations for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and the Kenya Primary School Education Assessments (KPSEA), which started on February 16, two weeks earlier.
In the notice, KNEC also outlined the registration timelines for the 2026 national examinations, urging school heads to begin enrolling their candidates immediately.
The council noted that KPSEA registration will end on March 16, while KCSE and KJSEA candidate registrations will close on March 31.
The notice warned school principals against waiting until the last minute to register candidates. It provided updates on accessing the registration portals.
“Do not wait for the last-minute rush and register your candidates today,” KNEC said in a statement, encouraging the heads to do earlier registrations.
However, registration will be done through the Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) portal, a designated online portal used to download assessment materials and upload scores for the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
How to Access the CBA Portal
The principals are required to log into the portal via https://cba.knec.ac.ke/ using their center code as both username and password and confirm the data protection checkbox before clicking the “Sign In” button.
KNEC introduced an additional security layer: SMS One-Time-Password (OTP) confirmation, which will be required after signing in.
They will be required to update their credentials, including their name and mobile phone number. After that, a one-time secret code will be sent to the registered phone number.
Once the code is verified, they will be redirected to the “Authorised Applications” dashboard, where they can select “Registration & SBAs” to begin registering candidates.
The CBA portal registration, however, is not for KCSE candidates because KCSE is under a different curriculum system. KCSE has its own KNEC portal for registration, where schools submit candidate details and subject choices.
With registration now open, KNEC is expected to introduce an SMS verification code in April to allow parents to confirm whether their children have been successfully registered, following an earlier announcement to that effect.
