KNEC Releases 2026 KCSE Timetable With Exams Starting on October.
The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has officially published the timetable for 2026 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, with the exams set to begin on October 19.
According to the timetable, the examinations will commence on October 19 and end on November 20 with French, German, Sign Language and music as first subjects.
These will be followed by practicals in Home Science, Art and Design, Building Construction, Electricity and French that will take place between Wednesday, October 21 and Monday, October 26.
Theory examinations will begin on November 2, starting with English and Chemistry, which will last two hours each, with a 3-hour and 30-minute break between the two papers.
On November 3, the learners will sit for their first Mathematics paper, a mandatory subject for all the students, and it will last for 2 hours and 30 minutes and will be followed by the English Grammar paper that will begin at 2 pm.
The second Chemistry paper will be done on November 4 as the first examination of the day for 2 hours, and followed by an English Composition and Essay paper that will start at 2 pm and end at 4.30 pm.
On Thursday, November 5, the students will sit for their first Kiswahili paper (Lugha) that will begin at 8 am and end at 10.30 am, followed by Kiswahili (Insha) that will begin at 2 pm and end at 4.15 pm.
The second week of the examination will commence with the second Mathematics paper that will be done on Monday, November 9, followed by a third Kiswahili paper (Fasihi) in the afternoon.
On Tuesday, November 10, the students will undertake the Religious Education examinations from 8 am to 10.30 am, followed by the first Biology paper from 2 pm to 4 pm.
The second Religious Education paper will be done on Wednesday, November 11, for 2 hours and 30 minutes, followed by History and Government in the afternoon.
On Thursday, November 12, the students will sit for their second biology paper from 8 am to 10 am, followed by the second paper of History and Government from 2 pm to 4.30 pm.
The second week of examinations will end with Biology practicals that will be carried out for the whole day, with each learner required to sit for the paper within a 1-hour and 45-minute period.
The final exams will commence with a Geography paper on Monday, November 16, followed by the first Physics paper in the afternoon from 2 pm to 4 pm.
On Tuesday, November 17, the learners will undertake Business Studies examinations, followed by Agriculture in the afternoon, with each paper taking two hours.
On Wednesday, November 18, the students will sit for their second Geography paper, followed by a second Physics paper in the afternoon, with Agriculture and Business Studies learners expected to sit for their second papers on Thursday, November 19.
The examinations will conclude on Friday, November 20, with a Physics practical that will last for 2 hours and 30 minutes for each student.
