KUCCPS Opens Applications Portal for Teaching Course 2025 Intake.

For P1 and ECDE certificate holders looking to advance their teaching credentials, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has formally announced the launch of its application portal.

A simplified placement procedure run by KUCCPS will allow eligible candidates to pursue a Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE), according to the announcement made on Wednesday.

To be eligible for the upgrade program, candidates must hold a Certificate in Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) or Primary Teacher Education (P1).

“The Ministry of Education has introduced this programme to provide teachers with P1 or ECDE certificates with a pathway to upgrade their qualifications to diploma level,” read part of the announcement.

Additionally, applicants were instructed to start the application process by selecting their preferred public Teacher Training College (TTC) by logging into the KUCCPS application system via the official website.

The program will strive to improve the quality of teaching and professional development among educators nationwide, and the admission is set for August, according to KUCCPS.

According to the service, the application procedure will close in two weeks.

Interested individuals are encouraged to apply as soon as possible to guarantee their spot in the slots offered at different TTCs, as the application system is currently operational.

As part of its continuous attempts to standardize teacher training and give educators the skills they need in the Competency-Based Education (CBE) age, the Ministry of Education is implementing the DPTE upgrade program.

There are 33 public Primary Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) located around Kenya where the training will be conducted. A Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) P1 or ECDE certificate is the minimal prerequisite for admission.

Furthermore, candidates must have received a minimum grade of C on their KCSE exams.

Those who are experiencing difficulties with the application procedure can seek help from Huduma centers in the interim.
