KMTC Issues Lifeline Guidelines to Applicants Who Missed September Intake.

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has advised applicants who were not selected for the September 2025 intake to consider other available courses. In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 5, the institution highlighted options such as Higher Diplomas, Upgrading Diplomas, and Short Courses.

“If you didn’t secure a place for the September intake, you may apply for our Higher Diploma, Upgrading Diploma, or Short Courses,” the announcement stated.

Unlike certificate and diploma programmes, which are processed through the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), these three options can be applied for directly via the KMTC website.

Prospective students are directed to visit the KMTC portal at [website link]. Upon logging in, they can select from the listed courses under each programme. New users must first complete the registration process.

The available short courses include:

  • Health Care Assistant

  • Safe Phlebotomy

  • Sign Language for Health Workers

  • HIV Testing Services

  • Echocardiography

  • Monitoring and Evaluation (part-time)

  • Community Health Extension Work

  • Integrated Basic Life Support/First Aid

  • Adherence Counselling

  • Infection Prevention for Health Professionals

  • Point of Care Ultrasound for Midwives

Additionally, the college offers Higher Diplomas and Upgrading Diplomas for in-service professionals seeking to advance their qualifications. Some Higher Diploma options are:

  • Physiotherapy (Orthopaedic Manual Therapy)

  • Physiotherapy (Neurorehabilitation)

  • Medical Engineering (Therapeutic Equipment)

  • Kenya Registered Nurse Anaesthesia

  • Critical Care Nursing

  • Psychiatric Nursing

Notably, the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) recognized KMTC’s Higher National Diploma as equivalent to a university degree in 2022.

For those with a certificate qualification, Upgrading Diploma programmes are available in fields such as:

  • Mortuary Science

  • Emergency Medical Training

  • Community Health

  • Medical Laboratory Sciences

  • Community Health Nursing (distance learning)

  • Public Health
