The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) has revealed that it is in the process of introducing customised courses following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Welwitchia University, Namibia.
The college confirmed that the MoU will help in engineering a structured framework that will enable the two institutions to collaborate in education, research, and capacity building.
The MoU will also facilitate the implementation of the new academic programmes and courses, which will be tailored for specific faculties, researchers, and students, according to KMTC.
Furthermore, the partnership will also facilitate the introduction of diploma and certificate courses at Welwitchia University with technical support from the KMTC.
“KMTC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Welwitchia University, Namibia, marking a significant step in advancing academic collaboration and strengthening global health training and research,” KMTC stated.
“The MoU, signed at the College headquarters in Nairobi, establishes a structured framework for collaboration in education, research, and capacity building,” it added.
Through the joint academic programmes, students from both institutions will also share resources such as libraries, laboratories, and research facilities, as well as undertake joint publications and the dissemination of research findings.
Through the MoU, the two institutions will also make recommendations for a context-specific curriculum that will address local health gaps within Namibia’s healthcare system.
The signing was made by KMTC CEO Kelly Oluoch, Namibia’s Council Chairperson Monika Pendukeni, and Welwitchia University Vice Chancellor Professor Marius Hedimbi on Tuesday, March 3.
“As part of the collaboration, KMTC will deploy technical experts to support joint concepts, strengthen health systems, and advance leadership development initiatives through customised training tailored to Namibia’s national priorities,” KMTC stated.
The signing was made a day after the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) reopened its portal for students seeking placement into medical courses at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) for the March 2026 intake.
In a notice, KUCCPS invited students who scored Grade D and above in their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) to apply for various diploma and certificate courses.
KUCCPS said that a total of 31 medical courses under the health sciences cluster were available across different KMTC campuses countrywide.
